Latest Formula One standings

Fernando Alonso extended his lead in the F1 title race to 40 points after taking fifth in Hungary.

(CNN) -- Fernando Alonso will go into F1's mid season break with a 40-point lead in the title race after 11 rounds.

Alonso could only manage fifth in the Hungary Grand Prix, which was won by Britain's Lewis Hamilton, but nearest challenger Mark Webber was only eighth.

Hamilton with his second victory of the season for McLaren has revived his title hopes, but still trails two-time champion Alonso by 47 points with nine races to go.

Two-time defending champion Sebastian Vettel finished fourth at the Hungaroring to lie third in his title defense.

With Jenson Button finishing sixth in Hungary, McLaren has moved into second place in the constructors' title race, but only four points separate them and fourth placed Ferrari. Red Bull still lead the way.
